VISION

"What motivates me to run for City Council is the future of our children. We came here for the great schools, walkable downtown, and phenomenal public safety. We discovered caring staff and vibrant programs at the library and community center. And we found our village in our neighbors and the small business owners who connect with us as individuals rather than simply customers. This is the Berkley that I want to preserve and improve so that our kids and their kids will want to call it 'home.' This city is their future -- let's make it the best it can possibly be."
PRIORITIES
Safety

As a parent of two young children, my first priority is that Berkley is a safe place for everyone to live, work and play.

On City Council I will work to ensure that city services, infrastructure, and code enforcement meet and exceed best practices. I will also push to fully fund our phenomenal Public Safety Department and the efforts being made to prepare Berkley in case of a natural or man-made disaster.

Communication

As the Chair of the Citizens Engagement Advisory Committee, I currently work with City Council and city staff in order to improve the ways in which the city communicates with its residents. Since the recent relaunch of this committee, Berkley has improved the city's website, expanded its presence on social media, and begun reaching out to residents who do not rely on the internet for information. For example, we are currently forming the Berkley Block Ambassadors program in order to connect with residents who are at the heart of the smallest geographical communities in Berkley.

Throughout my campaign and if elected, I will reach out to as many residents as possible. In addition to expanding my social media presence, I will knock doors, host meet-and-greet events, and continue to engage with a wide representation of residents about the issues that directly impact them and their neighbors.

Collaboration

The motto "Berkley Cares" is reflected in the many interactions I have had with fellow residents, city leaders, city staff, and local business owners. I find that the people who live and work here are actively invested in this community, whether they recently relocated or their family has been here for generations.

When these groups work together, Berkley wins. As a council member, I will build connections between individuals and groups based on the common goal of wanting what is best for Berkley.

I will also seek out and support opportunities for Berkley to work with other nearby cities. By recognizing and participating in regional partnerships, we can share our strengths while simultaneously learning from and building on the strengths of others.

Inclusivity

Berkley sits at the center of a wonderfully diverse region of Oakland county. We are surrounded by a variety of cultures, religions, and ways of life.

As a council member, I will celebrate those differences and actively work to promote Berkley as an inclusive, welcoming community where all of our families can thrive.
